📖 Bible Text:

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek." – Romans 1:16 (NKJV)

📝 Exposition:

The gospel is the only means through which God grants salvation. Paul declares that the gospel of Christ is the power of God unto salvation—not human wisdom, religious traditions, or personal righteousness.

The word "gospel" means "good news", referring to the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). This message is not just informational, but transformational—when obeyed, it leads to forgiveness, reconciliation, and eternal life.

The gospel is:

  • God’s Power – The means by which He saves those who believe.
  • For All People – Available to Jews and Gentiles alike.
  • To Be Obeyed – Not just believed, but followed in obedience (2 Thessalonians 1:8).

Many today seek salvation outside of the gospel, but Jesus warns that human doctrines make worship vain (Matthew 15:9). The true gospel must be heard (Romans 10:17), believed, repented of, confessed, and obeyed in baptism (Acts 2:38; Mark 16:16).

📖 Supporting Scriptures:

  • 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 – The gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ.
  • Galatians 1:8 – Any other gospel is a perversion and leads to condemnation.

✅ Practical Application:

  • Do not seek salvation outside of the gospel – It is the only way to be saved.
  • Be confident in sharing the gospel – Do not be ashamed to teach the truth.
  • Obey the gospel fully – Belief alone is not enough; it requires complete obedience.
  • Reject false teachings – Any gospel different from what the apostles preached is false.
