The Assurance of Salvation

📅 February 21 – "The Assurance of Salvation"

📖 Bible Text:

"These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God." – 1 John 5:13 (NKJV)

📝 Exposition:

One of the greatest joys of being a Christian is the assurance of salvation. God does not want His children to live in doubt, wondering if they are truly saved. Instead, He provides a clear foundation for our confidence in eternal life.

How can we be sure of our salvation?

  1. By Trusting in God's Promise – God never lies (Titus 1:2). If we have obeyed the gospel, we can know we have eternal life (1 John 5:13).
  2. By Remaining in Christ – Salvation is in Christ (2 Timothy 2:10), and we must abide in Him through faithful living (John 15:4-6).
  3. By Walking in the Light – Those who walk in the light have continual cleansing by Jesus' blood (1 John 1:7).
  4. By the Witness of the Word – The Scriptures confirm the conditions of salvation, and we must examine ourselves in light of them (2 Corinthians 13:5).

Our assurance is not based on feelings but on the unchanging truth of God's Word. As long as we walk in faith and obedience, we can be confident in our eternal salvation.

📖 Supporting Scriptures:

  • John 10:28 – Jesus gives eternal life, and no one can snatch us from His hand.
  • Romans 8:1 – There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
  • Hebrews 10:22 – We must draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith.

✅ Practical Application:

  • Study the Word. Assurance comes from knowing what God has said, not personal feelings.
  • Stay faithful. Continue walking in obedience to maintain your confidence in salvation.
  • Encourage others. Many Christians struggle with doubt—help them build their assurance through Scripture.

🤔 Reflection Questions:

  • Do I have full confidence in my salvation based on God's Word?
  • Am I walking in the light or allowing sin to create doubt in my heart?

💡 Closing Thought (Motivational Statement):

"God wants you to be sure of your salvation—live with confidence in Christ!"

🙏 Prayer:

"Father, I thank You for the blessed assurance of salvation in Christ. Help me to remain faithful, trusting in Your promises every day. In Jesus’ name, Amen."
