The Reality of Sin
📌 February Theme: "Laying the Right Foundation"
📅 Week 1 Theme: "The Need for Salvation"
📅 February 9 – "The Reality of Sin"
📖 Bible Text:
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." – Romans 3:23 (NKJV)
📝 Exposition:
Many people believe they are "good enough" and assume that sin is only for the worst of criminals. However, the Bible makes it clear: all have sinned—no one is exempt. From the beginning, sin has separated man from God, starting with Adam and Eve (Genesis 3).
The word "sinned" in Romans 3:23 means missing the mark, like an archer failing to hit the target. God's standard is His glory—His perfect righteousness. But because of sin, we all fall short. Sin is not just breaking God's laws, but also failing to live according to His holiness (1 John 3:4, James 4:17).
Sin affects everyone. It is why we experience spiritual death (Romans 6:23). It brings guilt, separation from God, and eternal consequences. Until a person acknowledges their sin, they will never see their need for salvation. This is why we must recognize the reality of sin before we can appreciate the grace of God.
📖 Supporting Scriptures:
- Isaiah 59:2 – "But your iniquities have separated you from your God..."
- 1 John 1:8 – "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us."
✅ Practical Application:
- Examine your heart – Acknowledge personal sin and its consequences.
- Do not justify sin – Sin is serious, and ignoring it leads to spiritual destruction.
- Seek God's solution – The reality of sin should lead you to seek forgiveness in Christ.
- Share the truth – Help others understand the seriousness of sin and the need for salvation.
🤔 Reflection Questions:
- Have I truly acknowledged my sin before God?
- How does understanding sin help me appreciate God’s grace?
💡 Closing Thought (Motivational Statement):
"No one is too righteous to need salvation. Sin affects all, and only Christ can redeem us!"
🙏 Prayer:
"Heavenly Father, I acknowledge my sin before You. I know that without You, I am lost. Please forgive me and cleanse me by Your grace. Help me to walk in obedience and guide others to Your truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen."
